The types of paints we use do vary depending on the type of use that particular room gets. Like if its a kid’s play room, we would use something with a gloss or sheen, as that offers more protection with the ability to wipe it clean. Same goes for the kitchen. For the bathroom, you’ll want to have something with a slight sheen as well as mildew resistance. Reason being is that its exposed to water every single day, and you don’t want to have mold develop on your walls.
We offer several gloss or sheen levels:
Flat paint
Flat enamel paint
Eggshell paint
Satin paint
Semi-gloss paint
High-gloss paint
Flat is great for hiding imperfections, but it leaves you susceptible to stains. Flat paint cannot be wiped easily so we recommend at a bare minimum to use flat enamel or eggshell. At that point you will have a very low sheen but also full protection against stains. Eggshell is probably the most popular choice for interior spaces due to its slight gloss and soft appearance.
Satin and semi-gloss are usually reserved for trim or high-traffic areas. The more sheen you have, the less it will hide any imperfections on the surfaces themselves. So if you go with a high-gloss paint say for a wall, you would see every little groove and bump. If you have covered-up holes or drywall tape lines on any of your walls, stick with a flat or flat enamel to hide most of that from being seen.
